Another Finnish music site Meteli.net recommends Rivertown...
"Tässä hyvin tehtyä kotimaista countrya, Luultavasti paras tämän tyylin albumi 70-luvun Country Expressin jälkeen. Jerryn persoonallinen ääni ja hyvät biisit kruunaavat hienon kokonaisuuden."

Live in Helsinki this Friday!

Hi everybody! I'm playing a solo-show at London Pub in Helsinki on Friday (November 18th) w/ Paul Oxley's Unit, Leavings-Orkesteri and Lori Campbell. I'll go onstage at 9PM. So come on out to the show!

I've been busy planning tours for next year. Hopefully there will be a North American tour as well as a Finland tour coming up, more on that later! At the moment I'm on a short vacation in Stockholm and I got to see the fantastic Amy LaVere perform last night. I must say it was one of the best live concerts I've ever seen. A great mix of Americana, Jazz, Blues & Country. If you haven't already, do check her out at amylavere.com!

It feels extra nice to be in Sweden when this review (in Swedish Rootsy.nu) came in...

Recension

Lindqvist, Jerry
Rivertown
(Wing Records)

Det framgår i låtar som »Into a Stranger«, »The Deal Is Going Down« och »Back To Being Blue«.

Featured Artist of the Week on The Alternate Root!

Featured Artist of the Week 11-1-11 on The Alternate Root
Jerry Lindqvist

Jerry Lindqvist stakes his claim and marks his musical territory, using the song title “Funky Country” to describe the joyful noise rising from his recent release ‘Rivertown’. Jerry proves that American Roots do not really need to be rooted in the country of origin, this format of music belongs to the players and fans of the world. Jerry Lindqvist was born and raised in Vassa, Finland and grew on a diet of rock, country, Townes Van Zandt and Hank Williams. His music touches on influences and adds the natural soul texture of his vocal work. The title track bubbles up organ riffs, riding a fast train rhtyhm, singing of a “home where the heart used to be”, “Summer Rain” patters with a persistent drum beat and ragged guitar chords as the sky opens over two people “kissing in the amber fields of grain” and the voice in your ear whispers you to sleep, keeping hope alive that things will be better “If We Make It To Phoenix”. Jerry Lindqvist weaves the music and the culture of America into his songs and gives American Roots music a passport stamp.

Me, Oskar and Joel had a wonderful time in NYC, playing at CMJ (at Googies at The Living Room), playing at the other legendary venues Pianos, Kenny's Cataways and The Way Station in Brooklyn and meeting up with new and old friends as well as checking out other cool music acts around the city.

We got to see the great Robert Ellis w/band perform twice at The Living Room. Two of the best live shows I've ever seen, so Thank you Robert! You have a killer band! We also got to see Thomas Wynn & The Believers from Orlando, Florida. They have the coolest songs and sweetest harmonies and Thomas even showed up for our show at Kenny's Castaways, good times!

A big thank you to Robert Singerman for helping us out! Thank you Alex Forbes for lending me your guitar, so sweet! Thank you also for the songwriting session!! Thank you Ashley Fayth, Duncan Townsend and Tiffany Shea for the music and for hanging out with us! Thank you Evan D.Williams for joining us on stage, playing the banjo, taking pictures and opening for us at Kenny's. We are grateful. It was also cool hanging out with our drummer friend Oskar Häggdahl from Molpe, what a guy!

Thank you also to Ariel Hyatt at Cyber Pr for the BBQ CMJ WRAP PARTY in Brooklyn, so much fun! I wish we could have stayed longer! Ariel's got a kick ass Pac-Man Arcade Game in her house, how cool is that! :-)
